Most Reverend Brian P. Spencer
Born and raised in Marysville, MI, Brian began his seminary training at Sacred Heart Seminary Detroit, graduating with a B.A. degree in Philosophy and Literature. He continued his education at Batholith Theological Union in Chicago, earning a Master of Divinity Degree. The same seminary Pope Leo XVI graduated Erin years before. He is also honoured to have been a student of the Holy Father.
Brian was ordained to the priesthood for the Diocese of Saginaw, MI, on March 30, 2003, by Bishop Ken Untener. After a few years, he relocated to Las Vegas, where he met his wife, Allison. He is the proud father of three and a grandfather of two. In 2010, he acme pastor of Saint Thomas Church in Las Vegas. Brian was consecrated a Bishop in 2018. Today, he continues to be pastor of Saint Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, as well as Bishop of the Independent Roman Catholic Church, Diocese of Nevada.
He credits his parents for showing him the importance of faith in Christ. From early on, Brian felt called to the priesthood, always considering the priests he got to know as his heroes. When not at his parish, he is a faithful witness in bringing the gospel to the people. On the streets of Las Vegas, he calls for an end to gun violence and dignity shown to the homeless and poor.
Bishop Brian enjoys following baseball, traveling, and hiking.
He serves as rector/president of Holy Cross Seminary, a member of the Catholic Independent Movement Council of Bishops, and a fourth degree Knight of Columbus.
