Baptism

The Sacrament of Baptism is the “door to the Church” because it is the first of the seven sacraments and is the gateway to a life in Christ. We are baptised because we want salvation. In John 3:5, Jesus states, “Unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the Kingdom of God.” It is through the waters of baptism that we are freed from original sin and reborn as children of God. The sacrament gives us membership in the Church as we become sharers in her missions.

At Saint Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, no one is refused the sacrament of baptism, and we mean it! If you have been away from the church for a while, or the parents or godparents have not been confirmed, God still wants your child baptised. We do not require a baptism class for parents or godparents and are flexible in scheduling your child’s baptism.
